Slow breathing has been declared a breakthrough in treatment of blood pressure. Get used to it and it will be very beneficial to your body. I used this exercise before but as part of performing martial arts forms because it can relax your body as well as clearing your mind from any disturbance that will make you focus on what you are doing and I don't know before that it can also lower the blood pressure of our body. I find this exercise very effective when listening to cool and relaxing music. The artificial sound of nature will be great too.
